John Tenniel was a celebrated English illustrator, political cartoonist, and graphic humorist best known for his iconic illustrations of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. Tenniel studied at the Royal Academy of Arts and developed a highly detailed drawing style marked by precision, wit, and imaginative character design. Although he lost sight in one eye after a fencing accident in his youth, he continued to work with remarkable skill throughout his long career.
